All Kent Junrior Chess Association ("KJCA") Grand Prix ("GP") tournaments are part of the English Chess Federation ("ECF") GP. The Caterham Congress is also part of the ECF GP however the Family & Friends’ Tournament and the Bob Wade KJCA Kent Schools’ Chess Festival are not. Your score, excluding byes, in each of these tournaments will be converted into ECF GP points, which will be added to your existing points total in the ECF Junior Prix, the junior section of the ECF GP. This will happen automatically as a result of our obligation, under the rules of the ECF GP, to provide the tournament results to the ECF promptly after the tournament. The players do not have to do anything, therefore, after the tournament to ensure that the ECF credit their points. Please note, however, that you must be a member, i.e. have paid your subscription, of the ECF at the time of the event for your score to count. Your score, excluding byes, is converted into GP points by calculating the percentage, rounded down, of your score to the number of games you actually played to which the number of games you actually played is added. In all Rapidplay tournaments, i.e. all the above events except the Caterham Congress, this score is divided by 2 and then rounded down. Your total GP score will be based on your best aggregate of GP points from the following number of events:
The leader board of the ECF Junior Prix will be shown on the ECF website, www.englishchess.org.uk. If, after a while, you believe that you should be on the leader board but are not, email the ECF for clarification. All tournaments that are part of the ECF GP are shown on the Calendar on the ECF website, if you are keen to accumulate points outside Kent. The prize to the winner of the ECF Junior Prix will be a commemorative trophy and a £50 discount to the entry fee to the next British Championships. The ECF GP is sponsored by John and Chris Constable. |
